The famed Texas A&M athlete Darian Claiborne was arrested for drug
possession on Sunday, December 22
nd. According to reports on USA Today, the freshman linebacker was charged
with two counts of possession. The athlete was arrested for possession
of a dangerous drug and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
He was arrested around 3:00 p.m. and was released less than two hours
later. He posted a bond of $6,000.
The athlete's arrest comes at a bad time, as Texas A&M plans to
play Duke University in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on December 31
st. The team did not immediately comment on the arrest and it is not certain
how the athlete's arrest will affect his playing time for the rest
of the season. This is one example that shows how a drug crimes arrest
can affect a person's entire lifestyle. As a public figure, Claiborne
now has to face with the publicity of his arrest.
