A Plano man, Christopher James Holder, has been arrested in the November death of Billy Joe Tanner. Mr. Tanner was brutally and fatally beaten, and fire set to the home. The alleged perpetrator was arrested on capital murder charges, and is currently being held in custody with bail set at $1 million. The investigation of the murder spanned two months, as homicide investigators pieced together the evidence that eventually led to the arrest of Holder, who had formerly been the boyfriend of the deceased man's stepdaughter. An informant also provided information that supported the case against Mr. Holder. The informant was a burglary suspect in another case that law enforcement says had knowledge of the case indicating that his information was accurate. It is reported that the killing was committed due to the belief of the perpetrator that the victim had been a child molester.
Any capital murder charge is extremely serious; the authorities in the State of Texas re known for high numbers of executions. There are cases in which the wrong person is arrested and charged. Family members are generally the first suspects investigated in any murder, which is extremely distressing to innocent people who are suffering the loss of a loved one through an act of violence.
If you or a loved one is the target of a murder investigation or is being questioned, held or has been charged, it is imperative that you have skilled legal representation to protect your rights.
