The famous country music singer Randy Travis was recently able to reach a plea agreement with the court about an assault case that resulted from an altercation with his fiancée’s estranged husband. Travis was granted 90 days of deferred adjudication after he entered into a plea bargain for the crime at a Plano municipal court. Travis was charged with assault after he attacked his fiancée’s ex-husband in a church parking lot last summer in Texas.
His charge was a misdemeanor, and the victim did not suffer significant injury after the accident. According to Entertainment, Travis will not need to serve jail time for his crime as long as he is able to adhere to the terms of his probation for three months. If he is able to obey all the court-appointed terms, then chances are that he will avoid any formal convictions and his case will be dismissed. This is an ideal situation because Travis will not need to put the offense on his criminal record if the case is eventually dismissed.
Originally, the country singer pleaded “not guilty” to the charges and he filed a civil suit against Beougher claiming that he was the one who started the altercation. In his civil suit, Travis claimed that Beougher started the suit on purpose in order to embarrass him. Unfortunately, Travis was formally hit with a DWI charge earlier last year and has been involved in a variety of other criminal cases in the past few years. This made it difficult for his civil suit to go through, but a hardworking lawyer was able to secure his deferred sentence.
