On Thursday, Dec. 17, a former Texas high school math teacher was arrested
for having an inappropriate relationship with two of her students.
H. Noelle Wey, 28, was reportedly removed from the classroom in late October.
She is now facing two counts of improper relationship between an educator
and student, both second-degree felonies.
Westlake High School hired Wey on Aug. 15, 2013. According to the district,
the teacher cleared her background checks when she was hired.
In the past few years, there have been multiple media reports of Texas
teachers having sexual relationships with their students, and this trend
is disconcerting for parents.
In November 2015, the Texas Education Agency admitted that the number of
investigations into teachers having inappropriate relationships with students
has been rising, KRON4 News and KXAN reported.
