Three have been arrested in connection with a
murder for hire plot that played out on Feb. 27 in McKinney. C. Pokai, S. Brockway,
and R. Rosser are suspected of planning the fatal shooting of Pokai’s
husband, R. Moore, a 66-year-old businessman.
According to the medical examiner’s office, Moore’s cause of
death was multiple gunshot wounds to the head. At the crime scene, the
police recovered five spent 2.caliber long-rifle shell casings near the
On Feb. 27, Moore was fatally shot in his McKinney home in the 8700 block
of La Quinta Lane. His wife, C. Pokai, 33, was having an affair with S.
Brockway, 31, of Frisco. The couple are accused of hiring R. Rosser of
Longview to kill Pokai’s husband.
Pokai and Brockway were taken to Collin County jail where they are being
held on charges of capital murder for remuneration.
Rosser, 51, is being held at Gregg County jail and is charged with capital
murder. He is also facing a federal charge of unlawful possession of a
firearm by a felon. All three defendants have bonds set at $1 million.
Pokai told the police that on the day of the murder, she was running errands
and picked up her daughters early from school due to the icy weather.
She told police that after she had been home for a while, she heard the
TV on in the master bedroom. When she went into the bedroom, she found
her husband lying naked in the bathroom with a pool of blood around him.
Pokai and her teenage daughter went outside of the home and joined her
younger daughter who had been playing in the snow. The teenager called
911. According to the affidavit, when the dispatcher asked Pokai to go
inside and check to see if her husband was still breathing, she refused.
After a search of Pokai’s cell phone, police found deleted communications
between her and Brockway. A search of Pokai and Brockway’s cell
phone data led them to Rosser. After Rosser consented to a search of his
cell phone, investigators uncovered Google searches for firearm and PVC
pipe suppressors for .22 firearms.
The cell phone search also yielded search phrases for building a .22 caliber
silencer, and how far will a .22 LR kill, among others, according to the
On March 8, Rosser was pulled over and arrested on an unrelated traffic
warrant. After getting a warrant to search Rosser’s home, investigators
found clothing that appeared to have blood spatter and other biological
evidence on it, said the affidavit.
On March 9, arrest warrants on capital murder charges were signed by a
district judge in Collin County. Pokai and Brockway were arrested on March 10.
