At around 8:00 a.m. this morning, five people were injured when a house
exploded on the outskirts of Waxahachie.
The explosion leveled the home in the 100 block of Arabian Road, and damaged
at least nine nearby houses.
Of the five reported injuries, two of the individuals were seriously injured
and airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. A third victim
was transported to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, the
Dallas Morning News reported.
Two others were not seriously injured; they received medical treatment
at the scene for minor injuries.
The initial reports suggested that the explosion may have been caused by
a gas leak, however, that report has not been confirmed. According to the
Waxahachie Daily Light, sensors detected gas in the area around 9:30.
Acting on the sensors’ readings, representatives from Atmos Energy
ensured that everyone was moved away from the blast site.
A spokeswoman from the Waxahachie school district, Candace Ahlfinger, told
KZAS-TV (NBC5) that no students or district staff lived in the home that
exploded, and no evacuations were made at the school closest to the explosion,
According to Ahlfinger, people could feel the blast from miles away. She
said that her husband called her, and they live 10 miles from the blast
site. She noted that it was “very strong.”
Personal Injury Claims for Explosions
In the case of today’s blast, we’re certain that there will
be several insurance claims filed, and perhaps some
personal injury claims as well. That is especially the case for the injured individuals
and the nine adjacent houses that sustained damage from the blast.
Whenever you have a situation where an explosion causes property damage
and injuries, negligence is usually the root cause of the blast. Sadly,
two people were seriously injured in today’s explosion and our hearts
go out to the victims and their families.
If you, or someone you love has been injured in an explosion or fire, or
due to a dangerous condition on someone else’s
