A Wisconsin woman was arrested at Dallas Love Field; the police are accusing
her of having sex with a Garland boy, 14, whom she met through online gaming.
A federal complaint accuses J. Lynn Dougherty of transporting the boy to
Wisconsin and engaging in sexual activity with him, according to a news
release by U.S. Attorney John Parker.
Officials said that on Sept. 12, the boy’s parents reported him missing.
As investigators searched through his belongings, they found something.
They checked his X-Box 360, which is where they discovered recent chats
with a user they later identified as Dougherty.
The conversations between the two were sexual in nature.
She Flies to Texas & Rents a Hotel Room
Prosecutors said that on Sep. 12, the day the boy was reported missing,
Dougherty flew to Dallas, had sex with the boy at a hotel, and then flew
him back to Wisconsin where they continued to engage in sexual activity.
On Sep. 16 the pair returned to Texas and police quickly arrested Dougherty
at Dallas Love Field Airport.
Dougherty is in custody and her detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday
in Dallas. Her age has yet to be released to the public. Online records
don’t list an attorney to speak on her behalf.
According to prosecutors, Dougherty is facing a $250,000 fine, up to life
imprisonment in federal prison, and supervised release for life.
