Pizza Delivery Driver Gets 50 Years for Murder

DALLAS – On Saturday, March 5, a former Pizza Hut delivery driver was sentenced to 50 years behind bars for killing his boss after he fired him.

On Thursday (March 3), A. Nikmanesh, 42, was found guilty of the Oct. 30, 2014 murder of his former boss, K. Murray.

The evidence submitted at trial showed that Nikmanesh shot Murray in the back 10 times, but the 11th shot missed the target. The fatal shooting occurred outside of a Subway restaurant in Plano.

After Nikmanesh shot Murray, he walked over to his car, placed his gun inside and sat down on the curb as he waited for the police to arrive.

Nikmanesh’s defense attorneys argued that he was acting out of sudden passion, and that it “wasn’t something he planned,” said defense attorney B. Schultz.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor, L. Milasky King, told the jury that it wasn’t a crime of sudden passion, that it was a “plain old cold-blooded killing,” she said. King told jurors that Nikmanesh was not going to change, and that’s what makes him dangerous.

King sought life in prison.

On the eve of the killing as Nikmanesh was outside of the Subway restaurant, he was asked why he shot Murray. His response was that they annoyed him. Later that night, he told the police that he believed that he wasn’t being treated fairly at his job.

Nikmanesh is a native of Iran. After joining the military at 14, he earned degrees in public law and management, and accepted a job working for the Iranian government. He then immigrated to the United States with his wife and son in 2010, where he didn’t have the best of luck.

In the U.S., he was hired by a solar panel company, but within a few months he was injured on the job and unable to work for almost three years. He was eventually hired by Pizza Hut delivering pizzas.

While he was in custody for the murder of Murray, Nikmanesh attempted suicide three times, NBC 5 reported.
