Some of the key benefits to becoming a citizen:
You get to vote. Once you become a U.S. citizen, you can vote in federal elections. In order
to vote in most elections, you have to be a U.S. citizen.
It’s easier to bring family to the U.S. When you’re a U.S. citizen, you get priority when it comes to petitioning
to bring your family to the U.S. to live permanently.
Children born abroad are U.S. citizens. When you’re a U.S. citizen, any of your children that are born abroad
are automatic U.S. citizens.
You can travel with a U.S. passport. When you travel with a U.S. passport, you can receive assistance from the
U.S. government when travelling abroad.
You are eligible for federal employment. Generally, you can’t get a government job without being a U.S. citizen,
therefore, U.S. citizenship opens the door to federal employment.
You may be an elected official. Have a dream of one day being in politics? As a U.S. citizen, you can become
an elected official.
