Employee Saved after Falling into Bin of Acid

Thanks to the quick thinking of four men, another was rescued from a vat of acid last week. The victim, 44-year-old M.D., is at a New Jersey hospital making a slow but steady recovery. Although the media initially stated that one of the men jumped in after his coworker to pull him from the acid, the "hero" has since come forward with his more modest and accurate story. According to the latest report, there were four men who pulled M.D. from the vat of nitric acid. He had been working on the roof of a building when he fell through and plummeted 40 feet into the dangerous substance. The four men quickly went to work and were able to pull him out before more serious damage was sustained. The acid was being used to clean pipes in the building and is reportedly a diluted mixture. M.D. is expected to recover from his burns, but it will take months for him to heal.

As with any workplace accident, the incident is under investigation by the local authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It is uncertain whether the building company had obtained the correct permits to work on the roof, but it is known that it was M.D.'s first day on the job. If you sustained injuries on the job and are disabled, you may be able to file for Social Security Disability in Texas.
