Texas DWI Officer Arrested for BAC of More Than Twice the Legal Limit

Driving while under the influence ( DWI) is a serious offense in the state of Texas. Anyone caught driving while under the influence can expect to face jail-time, fines, probation, license suspension, community service and more. Texas DWI enforcement officers are charged with the duty and responsibility of locating and arresting those individuals who are knowingly putting others in danger by getting behind the wheel after they have been drinking.

In the early morning hours of January 2, 2013, North Texas DWI enforcement officer, Nicolas Ramirez, was himself stopped by Westlake police after it was noticed that Ramirez's SUV was weaving in and out of lanes. After being given two separate breath tests it was determined that Ramirez had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of more than twice the legal limit. Although the four-year police veteran declined to comment to news sources, the Fort Worth Police Department reported they had placed Ramirez on restricted duty following his arrest for a suspected DWI. Additional reports show, that during the last 5 years, 19 different Fort Worth police officers have been arrested for suspicion of DWI.
