Miscalculation Leaves Family Without SSDI Benefits

One mistake by the Social Security Administration (SSA) can jeopardize a family’s ability to obtain the money that they need to survive. According to News Chief, a family in Florida was recently cheated out of their SSDI because of a miscalculation on behalf of the Administration. A single mother of two young boys, a Florida woman with the initials L.W. receives no child support and earns just under $9 an hour at the Gold and Country Club where she works. She relies on government subsidies in order to make things work for her family. Because this mother has a learning disability, she is able to obtain Social Security payments for this. She also receives benefits for her children.

The family obtains about $1,351 per month, which they say is enough to pay for their rental home which is close to the elementary school where the two boys, ages 10 and 12, attend. Both children have disabilities, which helps L.W. to obtain a bit more support from the government. However, a miscalculation may cause her government earnings to plummet. Even with her subsidies, this single mother fell at 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. On her own salary without the government aid, she would fall below 100 percent.

At present, this mother is trying to appeal to Social Security and ask them to take another look at her current earnings. She hopes that she will be able to get the information that she needs to prove a miscalculation and will be able to obtain the government subsidies necessary to continue in a comfortable and affordable lifestyle. If she is not able to appeal to the Social Security Administration, then she will have to take a second job in order to cover the costs of her home. If you believe that there was a miscalculation with your SSDI then you need to appeal just as this mother is doing. The SSA makes mistakes, and if they are not addressed you may lose thousands of dollars as a result. If you are a Plano, Texas resident, an attorney at the Zendeh Del Law Firm, PLLC can help you to make a convincing appeal to the SSA regarding your benefits.
