Juvenile Arrested in Clark HS Bomb Hoax

Juvenile Arrested in Clark HS Bomb Hoax

On Sunday morning (Sept. 13), Plano police officers arrested a juvenile and charged the suspect with “False Alarm/Report Emergency Involving Public School,” the Plano Star Courier reported.

There is no other information on the suspect available and the investigation is ongoing.

On Friday (Sept. 11) at around 11:30 a.m., 911 received a call indicating that a person was at Clark High School with a gun and that they may have a bomb. In response to the call, Plano Independent School District quickly placed the school on lockdown.

Plano police arrived at the school and thoroughly searched every corner of the campus, however, they did not find any weapons or bombs. By 1:30 p.m., the police determined that the threat was a hoax.

The investigation revealed that the 911 call came from a student’s cellphone at Clark High School, but that phone had been reported stolen earlier in the week.

Officer David Tilley, Plano Police Department spokesman said that after identifying and temporarily detaining the owner of the cellphone, they quickly determined that whoever was possessing the stolen phone was the one that made the hoax 911 call.

According to Tilley, multiple officers conducted a room-to-room search of the school, followed by another search with the assistance of a Plano ISD bomb detection dog.

Though early suggestions indicated that the threat was a hoax, the Plano Police Department wants the community to know that it takes all threats very seriously.
