Parents Sue AA After Daughter Inappropriately Touched by Passenger

A girl flew alone from New York to Chicago on July 15, 2015 and while on that flight, she reported being touched inappropriately by a man who was a passenger on the flight. After learning of their daughter’s experience, the girl’s parents decided to file a lawsuit against the man and American Airlines.

The parents argue that the airline failed to protect their daughter.

After the flight, M. Asif Chaudhry was arrested on suspicion of engaging in sexual contact with a victim between the ages of 12 and 16.

Chaudhry, a Pakistani citizen was later released on bond; he denies the accusations.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs are alleging that as the girl slept, Chaudhry moved to an open seat beside her. She reported to have been roused from sleep by his inappropriate touching.

When Chaudhry got up from his seat to use the restroom, the girl took the opportunity to alert one of the flight attendants. When the flight landed, Chaudhry was met by FBI agents.

American Airlines says that it cares deeply about its young passengers and is fully cooperating with law enforcement.

Protecting Children’s Rights & Safety

Children are our most vulnerable citizens, and for that reason we have laws in place that protect them. If a child is under someone else’s supervision, someone other than their parents or legal guardian and they are injured or sexually assaulted, they may have a claim for compensation.

Such incidents arise in a variety of settings, including flying alone on an airplane. They can also occur on school grounds, under the supervision of daycare providers, while swimming at a public or apartment pool, or while on public or private property to name a few.

If your child was physically injured or sexually assaulted while under someone else’s care or while on another’s property, you may have grounds to file a personal injury lawsuit.

We strongly encourage you to contact The Zendeh Del Law Firm to discuss the incident with a Plano personal injury attorney who has experience handling child injury cases.
