Biography

Ernst “Mitch” Martzen is “of counsel” to The Zendeh Del Law Firm. He was licensed in 2006 and has served as an active duty Air Force Judge Advocate (JAG), a Federal agency attorney, and in private practice representing individual clients.

Mr. Martzen thrives on helping clients overcome significant legal problems and has handled cases involving dozens of areas of the law. Mr. Martzen’s favorite areas of the law (and the focus of his research) include cases involving whistleblowing and whistleblower retaliation, unreasonable regulations, unlawful termination, security clearances, and disciplinary cases for Federal employees and contractors. Mr. Martzen has broad experience outside these areas, and selectively accepts cases involving labor law, general civil litigation, white collar crime, business law, trademark law, personal injury law, and military law.

Mr. Martzen’s cases have involved numerous Federal agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA, TSA, etc.), the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of the Air Force, the Department of the Navy, the Merit Systems Protection Board, the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Labor Relations Authority, and the Office of Special Counsel. Mr. Martzen’s experience with these agencies creates a unique perspective that has been invaluable in assisting clients when they face problems with the government or their employers.

Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Martzen attended Baylor University where he participated in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core program and graduated with a BA in political science and environmental studies. At Baylor, Mr. Martzen also completed AFROTC and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation. After Baylor, the Air Force selected Mr. Martzen for a program that allowed him to immediately attend law school, and Mr. Martzen enrolled at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. During his first year, he received American Jurisprudence awards, granted for high academic achievement, in Constitutional Law and Legal Research & Writing. During his second year of law school, his client counseling team was runner-up in a national competition held by the American Bar Association. After his third year, he received his Juris Doctor degree with distinction and was honored by selection into the national Order of Barristers.
