About The Interurban Railway Museum in Plano, TX
If you’re a history buff or just someone who likes trains, the Interurban Railway Museum is a great place to visit. Located in the historic building that once housed the electric railway, the museum is filled with exhibits about Plano’s history. You can even take a tour of a restored train car!
In addition to the train exhibits, the museum features a 19th-century farm with authentic tools and a replica of the schoolhouse from 1895. The museum also features a working “O” scale model train layout, as well as railroad track components and model rotary converters. There are many activities for kids and adults to enjoy.
The museum is located at the Texas Electric Railway Station. This historic site served as the primary transportation hub for goods and passengers in the area. It was open to the public until 1948 and was designated as a historic landmark in 1990. The museum is located in the historic building at 901 East 15th Street. It is open Wednesday through Saturday.
