Appealing an SSD Denial in Plano
Full-Spectrum SSD Appeal Representation in Plano, TX
A denial letter from the Social Security Administration isn’t the end of your claim. Most initial SSD applications are denied, and the appeals process offers multiple structured levels of review before a case is permanently closed. What matters now is acting quickly. At each stage, you have 60 days from receipt of a denial notice to file the next appeal. Missing that window can forfeit your right to further review.
Mobina A. Zendeh Del co-founded Zen Law Firm after serving as lead attorney for a national law firm’s Dallas office, and her practice focuses primarily on Social Security Disability. We’ve represented thousands of SSD claimants with physical and mental impairments and handle appeals at every stage: DDS reconsideration, ALJ hearing, Appeals Council, and federal district court. We work on contingency, so you owe nothing unless your claim is approved.
If you’ve been denied SSD benefits in Plano, call us now at (469) 361-8561 before your 60-day deadline passes.Every Stage of the SSD Appeals Process
The SSD appeals process has multiple levels, and the right strategy depends on where your case currently stands. We handle each stage and can move forward with the one that applies to your situation.
The four stages of review:
- DDS Reconsideration: A different examiner at the Disability Determination Services office reviews your case from the beginning. This is the first mandatory step after an initial denial.
- ALJ Hearing: If reconsideration is denied, you can request a hearing before an administrative law judge. Plano claimants are typically assigned to the Dallas North Office of Hearings Operations. The ALJ will examine your disability, its impact on your ability to work, and your supporting medical evidence. Hearings may be conducted in person or by video conference.
- Appeals Council Review: If the ALJ rules against you, the Appeals Council can review the decision for legal errors or procedural failures. They may reverse the ruling, remand the case to the ALJ, or deny review.
- Federal District Court: If the Appeals Council denies the claim, you may file in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. This is full civil litigation, and it’s a step we’re prepared to take. See our federal SSD appeals page for details on how that process works.
We prepare all appeals paperwork and represent clients at every administrative hearing and in federal court when necessary.
