Are You Eligible For Pretrial Diversion In Denton County?

Prerequisites to meet as an applicant for the Denton County PTD Program:

    • Enrollment in accredited school, or full-time employment
    • Signing of contract with District Attorney (DA) that admits guilt
    • No preexisting arrests or convictions
    • Monthly meetings with assigned probation officers
    • No criminal violations can be committed during the program
    • Alcohol use should be ceased during the program

A district attorney has the final say in Denton County Pretrial Diversion Program application. You could meet every single requirement and the DA could still decide to not approve of your Program enrollment. It is crucial that you work with an experienced criminal defense lawyer who can present your application to the DA and potentially negotiate if there are any issues. On the other hand, our Denton County criminal defense lawyers may be able to work with the DA to allow your eligibility, even if you do not meet each requirement.

If Approved For The PTD Program

Being approved for the Denton County Pretrial Diversion Program will move your case to the Denton County Community Supervision Department (DCCSD). While everyone in the Program will have to pay some sort of monthly fee for enrollment, the DCCSD has the power to change specific program details based on each individual case. You can expect your PTD Program to last at least one year, but it could be stretched to two years in some situations. Your Denton County PTD Program may require you to:

    • Complete community service
    • Participate in life skill classes
    • Attend rehabilitative programs or therapies
    • Pay restitutions to the alleged victims of the violation
