- Nominations from fellow lawyers in the same state who have seen an attorney’s legal work in action. Nominations are restricted to only lawyers and assigned point values in order to prevent unqualified attorneys from being nominated and gaming the system.
- Research conducted by independent attorney-led research staff to ensure nominees meet the highest criteria for selection, including exceptional case results, bar standing, community engagement, stature in the legal field, and high degrees of peer recognition and professional competence in a lawyer’s primary focus of law. The Super Lawyers research process also evaluates an attorney’s honors and accolades, certifications and special training, and other credentials.
- Evaluations conducted by legal peers, or attorneys who have been included in prior Super Lawyers lists, based on practice area. Panelists on peer-review boards rate nominees on a scale from 1 to 5.
- Selection based on point totals from nominations, independent research, and peer evaluations. Just 2.5% of all lawyers in the state make the final Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
